Headteacher News January 10 th 2020

I want to thank our wonderful young people for their hard work throughout this term. It has been a
privilege to see you learning new concepts from an ever-challenging curriculum and making progress
throughout the term.
What a fantastic term we have had with brilliant things taking place at Lawrence House School. We
have had such an exciting time during the autumn term and Christmas! (Please see the photos)
There is such a great buzz about learning and you should be rightly proud of all your achievements.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the senior leaders and governors in school whose ambition
and drive enables our school to continue to develop and thrive. Through student’s voice, a number of
issues were raised in the governors meeting. Well done to all of you for your open and honest
conversation.
Lots of young people have been on trips out to experience things first hand and we look forward to
lots more trips next term, LIPA university trip, Liverpool street art, Emmerdale, pumpkin picking,
Devils Gorge walk, indoor climbing- Wayside had a fantastic outdoor residential which they all
enjoyed. Thank you to the staff who supported them. Hopefully, in the coming months, all of you can
have a similar experience.

LIPA TRIP LIVERPOOL STREET ART

EMMERDALE TRIP PUMPKIN PICKING
We have been very busy making some alterations to our planning and one of the things we have
reflected on are the topics this will provide more inspiration for you. Going forward we hope to
become a Beacon School.
Thank you to home staff who have had a significant impact on the progress that the young people
make, particularly when you spend time supporting them with the homework activities linked to
their current learning. Please guide your young person with their homework- not leave them to do it
on their own, talk them through it setting high expectations and equally do not do it for them it
should represent their age and ability. More information about homework and expectations of
homework e.g. presentation, are sent to each home weekly. Please can you send the homework
back to David.
